Yes, yesterday there was a tarantula in my room.
Those things are crazy! Lorette, the lady who runs the internet center across from us, came over to say good morning and ended up teaching us a valuable Haiti survival skill. Sarah and I wrangled it outside with some well-directed bug spray and she killed it for us with a broom. Which took a couple minutes - he was a fighter! He actually turned, reared up and hissed at us at one point. But he is dead and we are not.

Today was our first day of classes and it was interesting to say the least. Creole is pretty easy to pick up, though. So hopefully we'll be able to build that up quickly so that we can run the classroom by ourselves without Edzert's help. He helped with a little translation and explanation today, getting the classes organized.
Oh, and Lorette and Dave both said that we should expect more tarantulas, so I'll keep you updated on how that goes...
